On behalf of all of our campaign team, we want to wish Chag Pesach Sameach, Happy Passover, to all who celebrate. Passover has been to me a reminder that “to be a Jew means always being with the oppressed, never with the oppressors,” in the words of Warsaw ghetto survivor Marek Edelman.
We have plagues in our time, as we recall every Pesach by spilling drops of wine. Chief among those are xenophobia and tyranny. And sometimes, as we’re now learning, the plagues can be all too literal.
Members of our community have been lost. And we mourn this year the loss of connection that’s been so central to our community; yet we reaffirm it with Zoom seders this year as we adapt to trials every year. We survive, we grow closer to our neighbors and we become a stronger community.
Our campaign has shifted to reaching out to neighbors and seeing what they need. We believe this is the only way to lead now. Let’s take comfort in the incredible stories in every town of neighbor helping neighbor, as we work toward our liberation together.
